Brighton is located 11km from Melbourne’s Central Business District Victoria Australia. It is an affluent and exclusive beach-side suburb of Melbourne, south of the city between Elwood and Hampton, that houses some of the wealthiest residents in Melbourne with grand homes, and the development of large residential blocks of land that accommodate large scale luxury apartments.

Brighton is also well known for its Dendy Street Beach with its 82 colourful beach boxes from an earlier time and era. As of December 2016, Brighton has a median house price of $2,740,000. The suburb is named after Brighton in England.

The most famous historical point on Brighton’s coastline is the Dendy Street Beach, named after his namesake Henry Dendy who purchased 5,120 acres of Port Philip land on the 29th August 1840.

Brighton offers visitors beautiful gardens such The Billilla Historic Homestead in Halifax Street which is open to the public. There are several locations that feature historic architecture such as The Brighton Town Hall and Elsternwick Park in Elwood, a neighboring suburb and consists of lakes surrounded by gardens, sporting ovals and playgrounds.

An extension of Brighton is Middle Brighton Pier and has a large marina facility which is adjacent to the historic Middle Brighton Baths. These baths have been enjoyed since the late 1880’s by visitors. Areas of Brighton’s beaches are designated to be used by water enthusiasts for windsurfing and water skiers. Notable Beach Road which runs along the beach is a popular cycling route, with off-road walking/cycling tracks that also follow the coastline.

Brighton is majorly serviced with many nearby separate shopping strips, including Bay Street, North Brighton.

Brighton’s most noted shopping strip is situated along Church Street which offers popular hotels such as Half Moon, Brighton Hotel and Milanos Tavern, supermarkets, a cinema and a selection of high-end boutiques, premium cafes and restaurants.
